OpenAI engineer bugged his own executive boardroom

Abdulrahman Alfozan allegedly hid a recording device in a USB port behind a conference-room TV, wrapped in toilet paper, and used his spouse's chatbot account to research how to build, conceal and remotely access it, according to the Justice Department's complaint. FBI Director Kash Patel says the target was discussions of OpenAI's superintelligence technology. OpenAI found the device on September 30, fired Alfozan, and then used its own models to trace the device back to him, a detail that turns this into an AI company investigating an AI-assisted bugging with AI. He faces up to five years if convicted. Nobody has said yet whether any of it was actually recorded, let alone leaked.
